WHEN WE ARE FIRST GETTING TO KNOW A PERSON, IN MOST CASES WE ASK, "WHO are you?" and, "What do you do?" The person who answers might say, "I'm Diana Black; I work for the school board" or "I'm Leon Hall; I'm a sales representative with the airline." In each case the first part of the reply contains a name, perhaps coupled with the area from which the individual comes. The second part is about his or her occupation. We can ask the same questions in studying the Holy Spirit. In the last chapter we asked, "Who are you?" We saw that the Holy Spirit is a personal, divine being, equal to God the Father and God the Son in all respects. In this chapter we need to ask what this divine being does.
